A dog is one of the most amazing pets to have. Actually, it’s even considered as man’s best friend. Owning one has a lot of benefits. It does not only help guard one’s house but also makes a great companion. Even those couples that don’t have a child yet consider having a dog as their companion for the time being. But since a dog is still an animal, most of the time it will still act like an animal, unless the owner allows it to have a dog obedience training of some sort. An organism exhibits two types of reflexes, unconditioned reflexes and conditioned reflexes.
An unconditioned reflex (UR) is unlearned and occurs unconditionally, A conditioned reflex (CR) is acquired and considered impermanent.
An unconditioned reflex consists of an unconditioned stimulus (US) and an unconditioned response (UR). An unconditioned stimulus is something that, when presented, evokes a natural unconditioned response such as blinking when air is pushed towards the eyelid or sweating when stressed or scared. Unconditioned reflexes are important for an animal’s survival. Freeze dried liver offered to a dog is an example of a US and the dog drooling is an example of the resulting UR.
My dog when walking with me is well behaved with other dogs and humans.
When someone comes in the house he will more often than not try to bite them if he doesn’t know them at all or very well.
When my roommate walks him he says my dog has a tendency to go after other dogs and nip or try to bite people.
Now I won’t allow my room mate to walk him till this biting behavior is taken care of. Me and my dog have had training classes but he needs more, which I plan to do.
When she’s inside she doesn’t bark very much unless she’s fighting with our other dog, but when she goes outside to do her business she barks like crazy. I don’t like to use bark collars or anything like that so I was hoping someone could give me some training tips. Thanks.
I have an outside, female dog, around a year old. She hasn’t had any training what so ever and has been outside all her life. I was wondering how I could train her to walk on a leash. I can’t let her drag the leash around because the pen is filled with dirt and waste. I want to be able to walk her down the road calmly and easily. Any help?
The sport of dog agility has so much going for it that it’s a shame our equipment needs aren’t as simple as those who crochet or collect stamps. Instead, we need jumps, teeters, tunnels, more jumps, weave poles, etc. And a storage area for all those pieces.

my great dane is very smart, but gets so excited. i’d like to find a way to get her calm so she can understand what i’m asking her to do. maybe some kind of exersize to practice.
well i am going to take my 11month old rott/lab dog,, to obedience training, its group training with other dogs once a week for 6weeks.
here’s the question, will he obey strangers?? because right now he is a good guard dog, he barks at people around the house, and is aways alert, will this obedience training change him?
also, i go hunting with him in the creeks, he digs out rat, and rabbit holes chases them and captures them,, will he stop this? he also catches pest birds, and gives them to me(no harm).
