We adopted a dog from the Humane Society last week.. she’s a 5 year old beagle/basset mix. Today we took her to a dog wash sponsored by the Humane Society and she was pretty jumpy and barky. The other dogs there were calm and sitting next to their owners. It was slightly embarrassing until everyone there decided our dog was unbelievably adorable.. (Everyone LOVES her.. she is pretty darn cute if I do say so). Anyhoo… can we take her to obedience class at this point? She’s not very good on a leash… always wants to follow her beagle nose.
She does not chew on furniture or anything that she shouldn’t… I’m most worried about her behavior on the lead and in public around other dogs.

I have a 9wk old male shih tzu. I just went to petco and bought a clicker.

His training will begin today but I’m curious if, years later I still have to use the clicker for him to obey my commands. For example, if I’m in a public place I don’t want to pull out a clicker out my pocket. But instead use verbal mark and praise.

Any info will be helpful. Thanks.

Potty training is one of the most important things your puppy must learn. Common sense should tell you why it is the most vital part of raising a puppy and has to be done consistently to be effective. Apart from the maintenance of your household hygiene, trained dogs are happy dogs.

She is a 2 and a half old spaniel.
Everytime I take her out, she lies down and does nothing..
Then when she goes in, she poops right away.

Dogs can be very difficult animals to deal with from time to time, some breeds and types can be especially difficult to train and control. No mater how much time and effort you seem to be putting in, your efforts give no results.
