Okay,
So I asked a question a couple days ago about socializing/training my dogs, and after looking around and reading some books I already have, I’ve come up with a list of books that I am going to try and get and then read them to help me with my dogs.
My list of books so far is:

I’ve never really heard about it until now, of course I haven’t owned a dog in quite awhile either. My dog is about 4 months old and seems to know how to sit, lay down, and he fetches well. We’re having trouble with OFF, as he likes to jump on people a lot and bite. Would a clicker be a good idea? if so, how to use it? other suggestions?

I had a trainer come the other night and she left me a clicker but I cannot for the life of me understand how to use it.
If I use it for them staying do I click while they are happily sitting? How in the world do I use this thing? Please let me know.
Thanks Christine

I’ve recently started clicker training with my dog and am a little confused.
1. Is the click supposed to be the only reward, or do you always follow it with a treat when training? Why do you need the click if you are just going to give it a treat right after? My dog stops paying attention to the training if I don’t give her a treat.
2. How do you add verbal or physical commands to the actions your dog is doing?

going to start clicker training my dog. any tips or websites that can help me with techniques to get the best results??
reason for clicker training is no other method works, he is afraid of learning, I’ve talked to dog trainers and everything they say clicker training is my best bet

I want to start my dogs on clicker training.
I’ve seen it used on ‘its me or the dog(s)’
But I was wonderin if there was any advise or tips you could give me other then the basic idea of click and treat.

What is your option on clicker training, traditional dog training, and their methods? What methods do you use to train your dog?

this wed. i’ve enrolled my little dumped pit mix (10 mths) in behavioral training/obedience in hopes of having more luck getting her into a pit rescue. i know the trainer is going to use the clicker technique which i’ve never used, so i’m excited to learn this.
and i’m wondering if i can use it to teach my 8 yr old ridgeback mix.
Rocky will do as he’s told until you stop looking at him. it’s very frustrating. we rescued him from a dog fighting group about 4 yrs ago and we’ve been working on basic obedience everyday. but once he’s focused on something, he obsesses about it.
can i use clicker training on Rocky?
for Hopes behavioral training my trainer wants to use Rocky in some of her classes, so i’d like for him to listen better before he gets included with Hope.
and i don’t believe in that bunk about not able to teach an old dog new tricks.
