We (adults and child) all needed training on dog obedience. Basic obedience training is important for a good canine companion as well a requirement for future training in various dog sports. Does Petsmart have dog obedience training? How effective would it be for a 2 month old Australian Shephard that is out of control. He loves to turn over water bowls (it’s 110 degrees here), jump other dogs and cats. Goes to the bathroom inside the house and tears apart everything.
Oh and how much does it cost?
I found a dog obedience class (beginner) that is 6 weeks long (meets 1 hr a week) and costs $150. This seems to be the average price. I want to know if others have been pleased with the outcome of their dog going through this?

Did you know that you are able to train your dog at home in your free time? I did not recognize that and it took me a long time to come up with something that worked. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy dogs. I was almost at the point of insanity trying to work out how to get him to behave like a normal dog.
It seems like the positive training methods only get you so far. It’s a great method to communicate with the dog – have him think and problem solve. But in presence of distractions and other temptations, it doesn’t necessarily instill reliable obedience.

Im interested in taking my dog to obedience training at Petsmart. If anyone has taken the classes Id like some feedback….. was it worth the money? did it seem like they were training your dog hands on? did the trainer personally helped with issues, or did he/she just basically read out of a book out loud to everyone? how did the trainer interact with each student? did it feel like a personal session or di it seem overcrowded and hard to keep up? thanks in advance.
