He nips when kids run indoors. He barks at doors, phones and other noises. He also barks at stray cats.
I don’t have the money for trainers, and have tried training from books and collars.
I have looked at searches on google. It doesn’t relate to my dog, or money is asked. I need sites that allow me to tell a trainer about my dog and they can give me advice. Thank you.

I have a 3-year old Weimaraner that I am fostering and he barks for no apparent reason. I also own 2 Weimaraners and a Black Lab, but I have never had this problem with any of them.

We love dogs and we consider them to be our best friends; however, how much do we love them after barking at the slightest sound heard outside or at two oâclock in the morning? My dog barks constantly and it has gotten to the point that when she barks my grandfather hits her- which I cannot stand. When I speak up I get called a “hippie” and blah blah blah. I refuse shock collars as they are extremely inhumane. They have a new collar that emits an ultra-sonic high pitched noise when ever the dog barks, which my grandmother wants me to get. I read thats it’s vet approved- but also that other dogs barking makes it go off, or even air planes.
I thought about buying dog training lessons, but they’re really expensive, and I’m pretty much broke, and don’t start working again until school ends, and I don’t think it can wait that long. The collar is $20, but I won’t get it if it’s inhumane. What do you think, training or collar?
Yes I researched it quite a bit. I know how to but I don’t know if they’ll let me use training technics, such as rewards.
I ussually walk her quite a bit, but it’s winter now. So I haven’t as much.

Training a dog can be frustrating and demanding but there are ways by which you can train your dog with little time without stress. Some times, people feel too lazy to train their puppy and that has exposed a lot of dog owners to unnecessary expenses apart from the dog insurance, dog feed and all other pet expenses. Some people try to train their dog by their self but stop along the line because of the time consumption and their dog’s slow learning life style. Some other people do not even try it at all because they felt it is too difficult and time demanding.

The treatment program must be based on the type of problem, your household, the immediacy of the situation, and the type and level of control that you require. A good behavioral history is important to determine cause, motivation and potential reinforcing stimuli for the barking behavior. Treatment plans need to consider the following:
1) Ensure that your dog is not being rewarded inadvertently. Some owners in an attempt to calm their dog down, will actually encourage the barking by giving attention, play, food or affection.
