@burtonsnowam42 The “Whoa” behavior is started very young using positive reinforcement and clickers. If you take a look at the positive renforcement pigeons video you will see how we start “whoa” with 3 and 4 month old puppies. Formal “whoa” training will not start until 8 months. This goes very fast with a properly built foundation.
hi, i like all your videos, they are very informative. one question though, how old are the dogs when you first introduce the whoa command
@centexhuntclub he is not to old to train, we would love to help you work with him.
My Gsp is 5 years old. Is he too old to train now? He is super smart, and hold a point on birds and squirels all the time. Nice video!
I love this video! Awesome! I’m in the market for a GSP and have already started my training regimen research. I will be utilizing your videos A LOT in the very near future! Thank you!
Thanks for the comment! Make sure to keep checking back we will be posting new training videos once a week!
this has taught me a lot… bird hunting is a sport I really want to be involved in one day, thanks a lot!
We used to start at 8 months, but have recently used this technique on pups as young as 3 months. On pups this young we accentuate the use of positive reinforcement, and keep the negative reinforcement, or pressure, very low.
This is more for pointing dog training. We have taught German Shepherd to hunt, but the obedience has been sit, stay, heel, and here.
You guy’s are so professional and handle the dogs nicely. I wish I could afford your services for my 8 month old GSP. Do you have any videos for point training?
brilliant technique…. tempted to try it with my springer! lol
8 months is probably a good average age to start. We clicker train whoa before 8 months of age.
Great videos! Nice job guys, will this training work with a German Shepherd? I have one that is 3 mos. old, he seems to be a pretty fast learner but easily distracted. Do you think that it is just because of his age?

How old should the dog be when you start this?
Great tips! Just got a new pup, first pointer so thank you very much. We are planning on using this method.
Thank you good videos
Jazz is a great looking dog. Wh have 2 females, 5 and 11 months. They live right in the house with us. Shorthairs are great dogs!
Great video series folks! Great dog too! On a lighter note…isn’t so true that women want to be the center of attention…my wife pulls my rope just as you pull on the dog’s rope
This is a great video! You make dog training look easy. I hope you post many more videos. Thanks so much.
