buy the clicker? directions on the box?
go to the dog training section of a book store- or PetsMart and look into a book option- petsmart also sells clickers and offers training classes
Well it’s no different from training without one. All it is, is replacing the marker word you use now (Yes, Good, Good boy/girl) with the sound of the clicker. Easy as that, though I know it doesn’t seem like it would be that easy, it used to confuse me to no end. I just didn’t get it, but it is really that simple..
If you are wanting to switch a dog from a marker word to a clicker, the best way would be to use the word and the clicker at the same time and then slowly weed out using the word and using just the sound of the clicker.
You can start off by getting the dog to associate the clicker will treats. For about 5 minutes to 10, just click then treat. Click then treat over and over til he gets the idea. Then you can start using the clicker for training.
You can free shape or lure the dog into place, and the INSTANT he does what you want, click, then treat. Repeat this about 10-20 times. Don’t say the comman yet until he knows that if he “sits (for example)” he gets a treat or toy. Then after he understands that, add the hand signal or voice command.
Also you want to end every training session with him wanting more. And don’t click close to the dog, as some are sensitive to the sound.
Here is a website that uses clickers and shows you how to start:

Good luck!
