Well, don’t get any ideas, and don’t go out and capture a wolf with hopes of making it a champion…
but I believe it would beat dogs in agility such competitions. Nature has made them stronger, wiser, and more prepared then our family dogs, who live a life of luxury.
no because it might eat someone
Wolves have not been domesticated to have a need for such activities like our pets do.
Wolves are more independent thinkers, and therefore would not be as willing to comply with agility or weight pulling.
Now, I’m not saying it’s impossible to train a wolf do to such things. I’m sure that with a very experienced trainer it could be done.
However I do not think that a wolf would particularly “excel” at either of these activities when put against breeds that have been selectively bred for it for years.
They’re brilliant and sleek in build, yet muscular. If a wolf were tame and properly trained, given their frame, speed, and quickness of mind, I’m pretty sure they would do phenomenally. Not that any of that would be a good idea… : )
I don’t think a wolf would ever excel in agility of weight pulling. Sure it could be trained to do those things if it were correctly tamed and trained. But wolves are far too basically natural to see the point in doing the tasks that our domesticated dogs love. Of course a wolf will jump a large obstacle or pull a heavy object if it had to in nature-i.e. a life or death situation- but it is unlikely to be inclined to do such things just for the heck of it. I read a non-fiction book about a man who had adopted a 3/4 wolf pup and 1/4 shepherd and he said that the wolf wouldn’t even look at a tennis ball because he just didn’t see the point in such frivolous activities- wolves only use their energies when it’s to their benefit in nature.
Im not going to say that you could not train a wolf. Due to the fact there are familys here nere my home in Sterling(Alaska) who have. But there only trainible to an extent. Vary basic training nothing like what your wanting to do.Its not that there dum or anything like that there just vary set on there own way animals. And alow vary little human enterference.
