it can help if a person Usually a male can not create excitement in his voice, but i would rather be able to reward my dog with good even when i dont have a clicker
Against. Who wants to constantly be carrying a clicker around in order to get the dpg to sit? And you are supposed to give the dog a treat with the click.
I don’t use a clicker and never have when training my dogs. If all else fails when I call them to come in and they don’t (and I have a fenced yard, but it’s fun to sniff and hunt around the edges and sometimes your nose prevents your brain from hearing)…. then I yell “Biscuit!” and you’d be amazed how good that works. And I then give them a biscuit when they come in.
But usually my guys come when I call them. No matter what I say, “ally ally in free, The first letter of their names, or Hot Stuff, Tough Stuff, Speedy, Grey Thing, Earth to whoever…” haha…
I think it’s a waste of time and it’s just confuses the whole training process. I mean, what’s wrong with “Good dog” and a treat? PRAISE IS THE WAY TO GO!
I also would fumble around with it and never click it at the right time. I had a trainer who was obsessed with clicker training. I don’t know how you feel but my dogs (Shelties) learn so quickly without it and just simple praise and sometimes a treat. That trainer I think was pissed ’cause I eventually refused to use it and my dogs caught on MUCH quicker and were getting perfect scores at the obedience trials later on while her dogs were not, LOL.
for because that will help you dog not jump on people or things
