I have problems now that I would like to address with my 15 week old dobe pup. He is smart, sweet and I am sure trainable. I can’t afford to take him to training twice. He walks well on a leash already.

When you are trying to train your dog by yourself, you need to ensure that you know what you are doing. Obviously, it will be best if you can invest in a quality dog training guide that provides you with very clear instructions on how to train your dog.
Dove Cresswell’s Dog Obedience training is one such program that comes with a total of 7 easy to follow lessons. What makes this program unique from the rest of the dog training products is the background of the product creator.

The down command is a very useful command that any owner can train their dog. Dogs that learn and comply when a down command is administered, whether it is for food, treats or simply obedience, shows a high level of respect. This command is best taught right after your dog has mastered the sit command and is also better used when the dog must remain in this position for long periods of time.
The down command is helpful in many situations – desensitization from fearfulness (having him lie down and relax) A downed dog won’t run across the road, chase cats, cars, children or bother approaching strangers. A dog that understands and obeys the down command is a safer dog and it also keeps him/ her out of harm’s way.

I wanted to teach my dog obedience but not to compete just to make her more confident. I don’t have any training classes close so I want to teach her it by myself. I train her with a clicker and a target stick. She loves it I taught her to ‘spin’ using it and it is by far her favorite trick, she performs it so eagerly.
So does anybody know of using a target stick and clicker to teach obedience or any sites to of how to teach her.
I want to teach her everything she would need to do as if she was really going in a competition.
thanks!

Those who had never once owned a dog cannot really understand the benefit of human-dog relationship. While they viewed as a pet to others, to those who love them, dogs become furry members of the family. Their pack-oriented nature makes them highly sociable and receptive to human contact. The Human dog relationship is so special and a unique one.
Where else can you find an unconditional love? Yes! You may give your dog punish and in the next couple of minutes he is at peace with you…not looking different from what he is use to be. A canine is one best friend you never have to be worry about having arguments with and they will never talk about you on your behalf. They are equally as excited at even seeing you a million times. The relationship with your dog should be built and given time and attention to. Your dog will sure would do the same to you.

ok. this is long but how do u train for all of this?
NOVICE – For the dog just getting started in obedience. Exercises include:
Heel on Leash and Figure Eight – show whether the dog has learned to watch its handler and adjust its pace to stay with the handler.
Heel Free – done off leash.
Stand for Examination – is of great benefit when the dog needs hands-on care by a veterinarian.
Recall – provides the handler with the ability to call the dog and get an immediate response at all times.
Long Sit (1 minute) – allows the handler to have control of the dog when visitors come to the home.
Long Down (3 minutes) – dog must remain in a down position.
OPEN – The second level includes more complicated exercises, which teach the dog to do a variety of tasks and to follow commands either by voice or signal. Exercises include:
Heel Free and Figure Eight – Same as Novice, but off leash.
Drop on Recall – can be a lifesaving command for a dog, since it gives the handler control in poten-tially dangerous situations.
Retrieve on Flat
Retrieve Over High Jump
Broad Jump
Long Sit (3 minutes) – similar to the long sit in Novice, but the position must be held for a longer period of time with the handler out of the dog’s sight.
Long Down (5 minutes) – dog must remain in a down position.
UTILITY – The third and highest level of obedience competition. Exercises include:

I’ll sum the situation up like this: Maggie (basset/beagle) is 5 and Jeanine (border collie mix) is about 4. In the past 2 months Jeanine has attacked my dog (Maggie) twice, resulting in $400 in emergency vet bills and weeks of recovery. Both times I noticed it was because Maggie was near Jeanines “treats” or food and she goes nuts on her.
Will obedience training help her? What are my options?? Neither of the girls have ever attacked our small boy dogs.

Dog’s behavior could put you in great humiliation especially if your dog starts to annoy other people and other dogs. How your dog behaves is a reflection of your relationship with your dog. A home training for dogs can help you solve the behavior problems of your dog.
Although dogs are wild by nature and aggressiveness is their normal behavior, you still need to conduct a home training for dogs to teach dogs how to handle their natural behavior and behave properly in domestic environment. Dogs are intelligent creatures and they are capable of learning new behavior and habits.
