Clicker training for dogs is one of the most scientific ways to bring out the best behavior in dogs. Clicker training for dogs is one of the most scientific and efficient dog behavior training as it eliminates all the problems that exist with the dog. Clicker puppy training and the behavior conditioning is really important if you want to see your dog excelling in all aspects. This method surely gives you the edge over other trainers training their dogs using different methods. The clicker training for dogs will not only enable your dog to understand all signals but will also help you to understand all the practical conditions under which certain animal reactions arises.

With the positive reinforcements and behavior motivation that arises from the clicker training your dog will be trained in a positive way. To understand the clicker training for dogs you first need to understand what a clicker is. It is a plastic toy which makes a distinctive clicking noise with the in-built metal strip. You will be able to learn about the different psychological problems that will be faced by the dog during its training and the measures required coping with them.

The basic advantages of the clicker training for dog are as follows:

• An automatic development of bonding and mutual respect between the dog and the handler.

• It is a sort of motivational training that is not only scientific and it does not involve any violent punishments, which for the record never helps.

• Clicker puppy training is the best and it trains the dog from a very young age and firmly imprints the lessons in its mind.

• The clicker training for dogs makes it stress free and happy and hence it has a healthy effect on the overall growth of the animal.

The clicker training for dogs actually encompasses a set of steps that will help your dog to understand all that is required from it. The first is that of the conditioning. Now conditioning can be distinguished into the operant conditioning and the classical conditioning. This actually includes the understanding for the dog that if it is successful in performing what was desired, it will be repaid in the way it expects. Like if you want your dog to greet you every time you return from the workplace you should understand that your dog will want to be repaid for the affection it is showing. It is not only about belly rubs or a friendly as you need to make the dog understand that you are its true companion and you will never harm it.

Positive reinforcement is another something that should be employed while training your dog. Like in the clicker training with the sound of the clicker it knows that it is being appreciated. So that is the motivational and the driving force for it to perform the work it will be doing.

The clicker training for dogs is an efficient tool so use it wisely and make yourself the proud owner of a trained dog.

Okay,

So I asked a question a couple days ago about socializing/training my dogs, and after looking around and reading some books I already have, I’ve come up with a list of books that I am going to try and get and then read them to help me with my dogs.

My list of books so far is:

-The Dog Whisperer by Paul Owens (Not to be confused with Cesar Millan) I am currently reading this – It’s a wonderful book and I love it so far!
-The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson (I just got this from the library, will be reading as soon as I finish The Dog Whisperer)
-The Power of Positive Dog Training by Pat Miller
-Don’t Shoot the Dog!: The New Art of Teaching and Training by Karen Pryor
-Clicker Training for Obedience: Shaping Top Performance-Positively by Morgan Spector
-How to Teach a New Dog Old Tricks by Ian Dunbar
-Excel-Erated Learning: Explaining in Plain English How Dogs Learn and How Best to Teach Them by Pamela J. Reid
-Getting Started: Clicker Training for Dogs by Karen Pryor

I will also be buying a clicker the next time I go to the store so that I can start clicker training with my dogs. I’m hoping it will work as well as I heard it has.

Have you ever tried clicker training? If so, was it easier and more efficient? Could you please share your personal experience?

I know that it may seem like a lot of books, but I REALLY want to understand everything so that I REALLY know what I am doing. Does the list seem good so far? Do you have any other sugestions for books I should read? Are there any on my list so far that you think I should take off?

Also, even though it may not relate to this section very much, but is there any other way to rent one of these books other than the library? I checked my local library’s catalog and they have a couple of the books, but a lot they don’t have or the ones that they do have are aready checked out for who knows how long. I would buy all the books if I could but right now I’m trying to save up some money so that I can afford a plane ticket so that I can visit my grandparents this summer.

P.S. I don’t believe in hitting, yelling, alpha roll, or any other violent physical forms of training. I refuse to do that to either of my dogs.

Gosh, that’s a lot of questions all smooshed together, but I would appreciate all your help!

Thank You!
Here is the question I asked before:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag_G.MKl3V0EMJuP4sHC8xbsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090427192527AAy752P

Also, I wanted to add: Click to calm : healing the aggressive dog by Emma Parsons to my list of books.
Caitlin: Thanks about the hint on clicker training. I have read that it is importnat to “click” as soon as they do the command. I will try very hard to do so!
Ms. L: I looked up the Monks of New Skete and I saw that they had some intersting books. I will look to see if they are available at my library.
TJ: Thanks.
Do you have any suggestions?

So, other than those I’ve mentioned, what is the best training device to use now? Those shock collars? Invisibal fence? WHAT!?? lol. I mean, she is the kind of dog that KNOWS what is wrong but does it anyways behind our back and then hides! LMAO. Thanks.
Oh sorry about that…

She needs help with coming when called, not biting people and other things like trash, chasing and beating up my cat…you know, the usual puppy training.

You know what is funny? She can play dead…that was easy to teach her…but all the others are hard lol
i know north…that is why i am asking for help and not my dog

What I want to know is if any normal street or wilderness dog can learn obedience to an acceptable degree, it doesn’t have to be champion on those “best Dog Shows”. Also, even if there may not guaranteed, have this happend before?; It maybe puppies better, or perhaps the majority of properly trained dogs are more “houseborn, house raised”, but that is not what’s important in my question- what’s important is the answer about the likelyhood that it may happend ( Can it happend, could it be that a street dog become acceptably trained, even if the number of these dogs is less than the number of dogs that are well trained that are already house pets; In other words, can it happend with proper training or is it almost always nearly impossible to train an adult untrained dog to behave acceptably well, and it requires a miracle?); Also, ignore which method should be used, as long if there is a method and not simply a matter of absolute luck without the possibility of Human influences. Thanks
