Toilet training your dog is one of the first undertakings you should focus on. It may not be that easy to house train a dog, but, it is a goal you can achieve more quickly once you follow some advice on potty training for dogs shared in this write-up.

The earlier you train a puppy, specifically on potty-training, the better. Toilet training your dog is something you should do as soon as it arrives in your home from the pet shop, from a breeder friend’s house, etc. If you’re clueless about how to house train a dog, you should not worry as below you’ll learn pointers on potty training for dogs or dog training tips that will eventually make your furry friend house broken:

1. Treat your pet like a little child.

An initial tip for dog owners is for them to treat their dogs like children. This means that you should watch over your doggie like a baby sitter or a mother who watches over a kid. You should not let your beloved pet be out of your sight when you’re toilet training your dog. If you notice it sniffing around, walking from one spot to another as if in search of something, those are signs that you should start to house train a dog, specifically bring it immediately to the yard or to any place you’d like your pet to potty.

During times when you can’t watch over the dog, an advice on potty training for dogs that you should apply is to place him or her inside a crate. Part of dog training tips, of course, is for you to have a crate for your doggie that’s not too big that it can poop or pee in it while still being able to go to the other side of the crate without being bothered by the smell of urine or feces, nor should the crate be too small that your pet won’t be able to stand up or at least turn around in it.

2. Make a schedule and follow that no matter what.

When toilet training your dog, it is also highly recommended that you have a routine or schedule for your furry friend. For instance, you should give your puppy food at the same times each day and then after he or she is done eating, wait 10 – 15 minutes and then take your doggie outside or right to the spot where you want him or her to ‘do the deed’. By sticking to a schedule, you’ll be able to house train a dog faster or become more successful with potty training for dogs.

3. Reward or praise your pet every time it pees or defecates in its ‘potty area’.

Another tip if you’re in the process of toilet training your dog is to make sure to reward it with a treat or compliment or praise it every time your puppy urinates or answers the call of nature at the right place. By giving him or her praise or rewards, your beloved pet will learn that what he or she did was correct and that you were pleased. Most dogs like making their owners happy or pleased, thus, if you use praises or rewards for every good thing your doggie did, you’ll find it easier to house train a dog.

Potty training for dogs requires patience, hard work, and love for your doggie, for it to become successful.

Dogs can be such lovable and loyal companions. But unless you instill acceptable and unacceptable behaviors in them they can cause certain problems as well. Learning a few dog training tricks will help you greatly in making your pet not only a great companion but also a trustworthy partner that you will be able to count on, whether you’re there or not.

Dog training is not that difficult to start and complete. But it will need a couple of things in order to be successful. You will need ample time, patience, and consistency if you ever want to see results. The problem is that not many people have that today. So how do you get over these problems? Simple, with factual and relevant information.

Contrary to what most people tend to believe, training does not actually need to be an everyday thing. With proper planning you will be able to tailor your pets training sessions to your lifestyle no matter how busy you are and still get the same results. Sure it will take a bit more time as compared to daily training but nonetheless it will prove to be a one of a kind experience for you and your dog.

One of the best trick or tip that can be given in terms of training your German shepherd is training them as early as possible. Admittedly, training your pet as a pup won’t be such an easy feat to accomplish. At times things can get frustrating and even infuriating. This is why you need all of the patience and control that you can gather in order to prevent from becoming too doting or too strict.

Also, take into consideration that some of the things you will be teaching your pet, they will be able to master quickly while others can take time. Just don’t get too stressed about it, with perseverance, you will be able to achieve the results that you need without encountering too many problems.

You will surely be able to find lots of learning materials as well as tips and tricks off of the internet. But you’d have to remember that not everything will be effective. You will need information that will be factual, up to date, and have been tested by many others if you want to succeed in your endeavor. So be sure that you do the proper research first in order to obtain the right materials that you are looking for. So, take your time and don’t just rush into things in dog training tricks and tips.

If you have never owned a puppy before, this article should help to prepare you for the many things that you should know and expect from your puppy and some of your responsibilities as the owner, as far as how you should go about properly training them. Dog training is very important and the earlier that you start with it, the much better off that you will be, no doubt about that one. Puppies come into our homes and you need to keep in mind that even though they are very small usually, they are also very, very inquisitive and will surprisingly catch on to many things very quickly. It is so important for anyone who is considering to get themselves a little puppy to definitely remember that you will just have to make sure that you apply some dog training skills on them right away, the longer that you put it off, the more difficult they will be to train.

Rewarding our little puppies with tons of praise and even some little treats, is the best way to teach them right from wrong. They love to make their owners happy and will go out of their way to every single time, as long as you have constantly given them that praise that they deserve for being such a good puppy and listening to your commands. Everyone wants to be the proud owner of a very well behaved lil puppy but most people do not want to put forth the effort to actually try and get their puppies trained by a professional or train the puppy themselves, which is why so many of us really need to get educated a little bit more about puppy care and the many reasons why it is so very important to properly train our animals, especially our little curious puppies. They are so adorable but can turn out to be very ugly later on if they are not immediately properly trained, so that they will know exactly how they are really supposed to act.

There are just a few things that everyone who owns a puppy should remember, when they are ready to begin applying their dog training skills. Learning just the few basics on dog training will really help to prevent any bad behavior out of your puppy in the near future. It will only take a little bit of your time and a great deal of consistency ofcourse, and then you will have the opportunity to show off your dog training skills to all of your friends and family, they will all be very impressed by your pooches good manners and adorable tricks. There are so many different books available that can teach you even more about dog training and all of the different dog training techniques. You will be so surprised once you begin learning more about this, surprised at how simple things could be for you and your new little friend with the most appropriate dog training skills.

You DON’T have to struggle with your dog’s behavior issues any longer. Get the facts and eliminate your dog’s behavior problems now.

Clicker training is a modern dog training technique that focuses on acknowledging proper canine etiquette. Owners or trainers use a small clicking device each time a dog exhibits good behavior or obeys a command. The click is usually followed by a treat or reward.

Clicking works to quickly notify a dog of the desired good behavior and then reward that conduct. This promotion of positive reinforcement is used to teach basic dog commands such as sit, heel, down, and stay. Owners can also choose to pursue more intense training for dog show or personal interest.

One major advantage of clicker training is that it promotes a loving pet and owner relationship. Unlike shock collars, clicker training is pain free. This makes it perfect for dog lovers who consider more discipline oriented training methods to be cruel.

Another advantage is that your dog will become eager to please. An eager to please dog will be ready and willing to work with you on training. Your dog will not only enjoy the reward and attention at each training session, but will also enjoy the praise that comes from the clicker.

Training with positive reinforcement allows you to focus on good behavior rather than bad. There are many ways a dog can misbehave, but there are less ways a dog can behave. This means you will be able to foster these preferred behaviors more quickly rather than waiting for bad behavior to occur before you can correct it.

One downside is that giving continual treats to dogs may lead to health problems such as obesity. To avoid this, you may want to consider giving tiny treats such as individual pieces of kibble or small bits of hot dog. You may also want to wean your dog off the treats after a while. Focus instead on rewards such as praise or extra play time at the park.

When you begin clicker training, you must always come prepared with your treats and clicker in order to maintain a steady form of training. This will require your training aids for even the shortest walk in your yard. Being sporadic with early training may undo any progress you make. You must also be on the ready to click as quickly as possible in order to identify the correct behavior before you reward it. Clicking too late may identify an incorrect behavior and confuse your dog.

Dogs who are clicker trained are usually well trained, but there are some mischievous canines that may do as they please when a treat is not being offered. Clicker training does not focus on how to deal with misbehavior, which can leave new pet owners confused. This means you will have to decide how to deal with those bad behavior instances and be certain that your discipline methods will not undo your positive training efforts.

The good news is that clickers are cheap and treats can be as simple as scraps of toast. You can also use various levels of treats to identify more important behaviors such as not jumping on visitors. For simple “sits” or “stays” when you and your dog are alone, you can use a smaller treat.

Opponents of clicker training believe it to be ineffective. These dog owners and trainers prefer more traditional dog training methods that focus on showing the dog who is boss. This school of thought believes that the pack nature of dogs requires a leader and that you are that leader. A leader who only provides positive reinforcement through clicker training may not be taken seriously, and the dog may believe it is in charge.

Clicker training takes a great deal of discipline and consistency, but it allows you to be the good guy in the dog and owner relationship. Not having to continually scald and punish your puppy will make you a happier pet owner, and it will make for more fun training sessions for your dog.

Okay, so you’ve decided you want to do some agility training with your dog. That’s great! You’ve seen some competitions, know you need some dog agility equipment, and decide to go to the pet store looking for some of the standard training items such as a tunnel. When you get there what you find is there are a lot of options to choose from but you really have no idea which one would suit you and Fido best. Not so great.

Well fortunately, here is some information that can help. This is the information you need to know how to select an agility tunnel.

Tunnels come in several different types. The basic selection for competition comes in 10 ft, 12 ft, 15 ft, and 20 ft lengths. They can be 4 inch pitch or 6 inch pitch. The Pitch refers to the amount of space between the metal that structures the tunnel inside. It can be heat sealed or sewed. Sewed is better for a hot climate like Az. The rip stop industrial strength fabric is very durable. The sun can actually make a heat sealed one fall apart after a while.

Various Agility venues have different requirements for the pitch. AKC, and USDAA, for instance requires 4 inch pitch. The pitch lends durability, stability, and weight to a tunnel. The heaviest weight may be required when hundreds of dogs are running through one, but for your own training needs at home to practice, a 6 inch pitch will usually work just fine. It really depends on your level of competition and the wishes of your trainer for you and your dog.

All sizes of tunnels are used on an agility course. You need longer ones to do a U or L shaped tunnel. You also may bend them underneath other pieces of contact equipment like an A frame or dog walk to teach the dog to discriminate between two obstacles. Most dogs find tunnels really tempting, so it is a distraction of sorts.

There are also collapsed tunnels or they are also referred to as Chutes. These are attached to a barrel and clamped on to form a flat or collapsed tunnel which is usually more challenging for the dog and it also takes longer to get through. You should never leave a chute unattended in your back yard as a dog can get tangled in one and there may be dire results of injury or worse. It is only to be used with handler supervision. Most dogs like these with practice.

If a person is in a puppy class or has a young dog and they want to do some back yard fun training, a practice tunnel made of light weight nylon type material is available for this type of activity. It is less expensive and easy to transport or store.

In order to stabilize your tunnel, you should ideally have tunnel weights or fasteners that look like straps on both ends and possibly the middle to keep it from moving or pitching when a fast dog runs through it. Milk jugs filled with sand and a rope or cord may have the same effect if you don’t want to immediately purchase tunnel bags, but that is what they are designed for-to keep your tunnel stable.

Tunnels can be a multitude of colors. You can mix and match and have fun making your course colorful.

Now a trip to the pet store to purchase dog agility training equipment won’t be so overwhelming since you know how to select an agility tunnel.

There are a number of options of sports for dogs. You can go from hare coursing to earthdog trials to dock jumping. Arguably, one of the most preferred choices is agility training. That is the sport where you get to show “Sport”, or whatever your best friend’s name might be, through a route containing a variety of obstacles such as tunnels, ramps, weave poles, contacts, and more via orders provided either verbally or with hand signals. In some cases it could be even mere eye contact. The goal is to have your canine run through the course and complete each obstacle successfully in the quickest amount of time possible.

The training can be challenging for this sport but the rewards are like none you’ve ever known. This is because this training allows your four-legged friend and you to create a bond that is stronger than practically any you can share with anyone, his obedience and training far exceeds that of nearly every dog you’re familiar with outside the dog sports field. Plus, he is healthy, happy, and fit.

If agility training is the course you would like to go down, dog agility training equipment will assist you in the training process. But with a myriad of equipment choices, it’s difficult to tell what equipment will best suite your needs. It is recommended to speak with a trainer and professional in dog agility training equipment and sports gear. They will guide you to the training equipment you require to assist you and your dog to be the best.

You could also talk with other dog sport competitors to know what they have learned from their experience and introduce that knowledge into your lesson books. Once you’ve gotten to together the equipment and knowledge then you are on your way to the most wonderful time for you and your dog.

If you’re starting in sport training for your canine or even if you’ve been training your four-legged friends for years, there is only one place in the southwest that can provide for all of your equipment and agility training needs. Learn about your ultimate resource by going on dog agility training equipment needs.

Animals are trained to follow positive behavior using mechanical devices. Such devices are called as clickers. A clicker is a mechanical device, which makes a noise. Clicker training is based on the principle of operant conditioning.

DOES CLICKER TRAINING WORK

Unlike other trainers, clicker trainers will have to wait until the animal understands before they could start the routine training sessions. When the animal learns to understand the cue then he is ready to learn the attitude and positive behavior. In the process of teaching the name of the behavior, the animals will repeat the behavior once the trainer says or signals the cue.

After such repetitions, the animal will become an expert in listening to watch the cue and is in a better position to understand that it will be rewarded for its good performance.

In case if the animals are not able to perform the positive behavior, the trainer assumes that he has not understood the cue and repeats the above procedure again. In doing so, he asks himself the questions like:

1. Has the animal understood the meaning of the cue?

2. Do the animals understand the cue in the environment where they were taught first?

3. Does he understand it in the new environment?

4. Is his reaction to the cue, in the new environment, same as in the previous environment?

After considering everything, the trainer can take the appropriate action. Make sure you follow everything correctly otherwise you might not be able to complete the dog training.

When you are training your dog, it should not be uncomfortable for either you or your dog. With the right attitude, you and your dog can have fun during every dog training session. The more fun that you and your dog have during these sessions means that your dog will be motivated to continue its dog training.

Most dog training begins when the dog is still a puppy. At a young age, it is easy to scare a dog and even break the dog’s spirit if you are too harsh during training sessions. If you are too harsh with your dog, your dog will not be as well socialized with humans or other dogs as the dog that is treated with kindness.

It is important to remember that a young puppy is just a youngster who may be prone to make mistakes at first. It is especially important that you make sure to praise the dog more often than you tell the dog, “no.” Your dog may enjoy different rewards for performing well including playtime with you, time with its favorite toy or food treats. Find out what your dog really likes and work that in as a reward.

Be patient with your dog. Many dog breeds have long memories. For this reason, you do not want to create bad memories about you for your dog. A dog that is treated lovingly and with respect will be easier to train than the dog that is fearful of its master.

You can make dog training for dog tricks easier on your dog. You can do this by observing your dog to see which tricks will be more natural to teach your dog. For instance, if your dog likes to carry things in its mouth already, it will be easier to teach it to fetch than if the dog has not carried anything in its mouth. A dog that likes to jump can be easier to teach to dance on its hind legs than the dog that does not like to be on its hind legs very often.

When training your dog, do not continue training until the dog is bored. Your dog will view these sessions with less enthusiasm that you would like. A bored dog will be very difficult to motivate into doing anything after awhile. Stop training while the dog still wants to continue because this will make the dog look forward to the next training session.

If you can stay your happy self during dog training, your dog will love these sessions and will try to please you even more. When a dog is trained well, the dog will be loyal and feel secure with you. You never want your dog to think that you can turn into an out of control maniac in the next minute if you do not get your way.

When you give your best to your dog, your dog will do the same for you in return. You will develop a stronger bond with a well-treated dog than with a dog with which you are harsh. It is up to you to keep your feelings under control when you are dog training. Your dog will be your obedient and loving friend for life if you treat your dog right. That is why is it important to have the right attitude when you are training your dog.

Electronic dog training collars can be effective tools for modifying a dog’s behavior, if you use them properly. However, many people do not take the proper precautions when using these types of collars, and therefore either do not get desirable results or misuse them entirely. In this article I’ll show you the best way to use electronic dog training collars.

First, you want to make sure you get one that has adjustable settings for the amount of shock the dog will receive. It is important that when you first put the training collar on your dog, you put it on the lowest shock setting possible. It is better to work your way up until you find a shock level that will register with your dog but not cause them to go into panic, rather than start too out strong.

The strength of the shock will depend upon a number of things. First of all, it will depend upon how big of dog you have. But besides that, different dogs have different types of pain tolerance. If you shock them at a low setting and it does nothing to affect their behavior, then turn the voltage up.

However, if your dog begins to bark incessantly or go into an extreme panic then obviously, the setting is too high to be effective. And dogs will panic or bark their heads off if they get shocked too hard. They are really no different than how we would feel.

At the same time, realize what an electronic dog training collar can’t do. It is only supposed to be used to modify slight misbehaviors such as jumping up on people, chewing up the newspaper, barking at strangers and so on. It is not meant to correct overly aggressive behavior. If your dog is a threat to bite and attack people then you should not be using a dog training collar to modify the behavior. Instead, professional training will probably be needed.

Finally, make sure you are consistent with your shocks. This means that at first you need to carry the transmitter along with you at all times, even when you’re not at home. Otherwise, the dog will not necessarily associate bad behavior with getting shocked, but may think it is a random occurrence.
