As pets, dogs are not only meant to be confined at home. There are chances when you have to take them out for a walk or bring them to any destination. Even more, the dog needs to learn the proper behavior despite being kept at home. Socializing is one skill that he has to be trained with. Thus, let him undergo dog obedience training.
You see, all of your family members should feel safe and at ease with your pet. There are dogs that seem to be agitated and such behavior can definitely threaten your family’s safety. While training him may be quite a daunting task, you will realize that it will be all worth it. Sooner or later, you will appreciate your efforts.

Known as man’s best friend, Dogs are the most loved domesticated animals in the world. Having a dog or puppy in a family is quite exciting for that family. But just having a dog or a puppy is not all. One should also pay attention to training his/her dog properly so that he can become an obedient and accepting part of the family. Dog training is not a simple job; it demands certain skills and approaches in order to make it useful, which can be learned in course of training. It is believed to be a good idea to train your dog yourself, though you can appoint or hire an expert or specialized dog trainer to look after the job. But both the ways have their respective merits and demerits.
Though you might commit mistakes and there could be instability in your approach it is always helpful to train your dog yourself as it gives you a better chance of establishing that significant contact or communication between you and your dog. You will gradually understand how your dog is reacting to any particular situation or what cause them to do a specific action – like barking. On the contrary, appointing a skilled person gives you immediate results but does not allow you to experience the “trial and error” method possible when training personally, which can be useful at some point of time.

I was wondering if I should, cause to me it seems like if i had specific commands to give to him, then it would be easier to control him in any given situation.
BQ: If I put him through obedience training and attack training, will they negatively effect or offset each other? Is attack dog training basically obedience training with an edge?

One of the fastest dog training techniques which is common to everybody now is canine clicker training.
A clicker is like a plastic box device, with a metal strap, when pressed will emit a “click” sound.

In other words, should we switch off so that I train her sometimes and my wife trains her sometimes, or should it always be one person in order to establish someone as the pack leader? If I do all the training, will she listen to my wife?

I have a maltese he’s about 1 1/2 yrs old. Got him from a breeder when he was 6 months. Today he was on my bed with his bone/treat (the bone was not in his mouth) I picked him up and nicely put him on the ground, he started growling and bit me on my hand twice and jumped up and bit me on my thigh (so bit me three times). Luckily they are not deep, but still have to get a tetanus shot. And one time he bit me on my arm (not deep) for taking him off the couch when he was playing with his bone (yeah I know I should have learned!). He has also bitten my sister once but that was b/c his nail got stuck on the bedsheet and as she was trying to get him unstuck it was probably hurting him and he bit her on the finger, that wound was somewhat deep. So in this situation I dont blame the dog b/c he was probably in pain. But what happened today I’m confused b/c Ive never really heard of dogs biting their owners. Not too sure what to do? is he just a aggressive dog? need training? get rid of him?

My dog bites.. alot. She’s been to professional dog training, and what they have me doing doesn’t work. She bites when she doesn’t get what she wants, she bites when she’s playing. the person that had her before us encouraged biting during play. now we have a monster. so we bought a muzzle. we don’t want her to be always muzzled, but she bites all day long… so how often should she have the muzzle on?

Most dog owners never really think seriously about dog obedience training. They’re content to have a dog that obeys a few commands here and there, barks when strangers come to the door, and doesn’t create too much chaos.

When did you start obedience training with your dog? How old should they be? I will be getting an English Bulldog and he will be 20 weeks old. When should I start enrolling him in professional obedience training?
I don’t even have my dog yet
