What’s the best way to leash train a large dog?
I have a 7 month chocolate lab pup who knows all of his commands and is house broke but every walk is a chore. How can I get him to walk on a leash without choking himself?

I have a 7 month chocolate lab pup who knows all of his commands and is house broke but every walk is a chore. How can I get him to walk on a leash without choking himself?
I’ve had my Pomeranian for about 6 months now, and he’s still a puppy, 9 months old to be exact. So he’s always acting out and having that “puppy behavior”, but I want to train him.
When someone new comes into the house, he jumps all over them until they leave, even if they’re at my house for hours.
When I make him sleep in my room, because he tears ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in the house up, he then tears whatever he can get his mouth around up in my room. And also, he’s never comfortable in my room. When I shut the door and he’s in my room, all he does is sit and the door and whine until I let him out, even if I’m trying to play with him.
He’s a 30lb. Rott. puppy and I’d love to take him for a walk but right now it’s almost impossible for me to control him when he gets excited. My husband is usually the one who takes him now. Help!?
I have a new Golden Retriever, and I was hoping for some help with training her. I’m not looking for the clicker training method. I just want her to associate tricks with voice command and hand signals.
I was hoping for a site that showed what kind of hand signals I could associate with each trick and like a step by step explanation. Got anything like that?
i watch cesar on tv-that makes sense, i’ve read many books on”positive only” approaches-that makes sense too. i have tried both clicker training and cesar’s way. i feel very confused. and opinions are strong and dogmatic(no pun intended) in both “camps”. meanwhile, my dog still has problems. one “way” seems to work for some things, another for others.
So I want my dog (siberian husky/alaskan malamute cross) to be in a dog sport and I was thinking agility. But she is 5 years old and so is it too late to start her on that?
What might be other dogsport opportunities for her? I know that there’s dog sledding but we don’t have very much snow where I live, nor the materials at our house/area.
I would like to train my dog how to use the bathroom outside and not in the house. Its very annoying cleaning after a pet. So, can you me a product or anything that can help me with this problem?
i want the best book that tells you all about training your dog tricks along with disc catching. best answer 10 pts!!!
btw i have a border collie/lab. thanks
Can I just clap my hands, or whistle? I can’t seem to pick up a clicker anywhere, not even the local pet store. :/
It seems like the positive training methods only get you so far. It’s a great method to communicate with the dog – have him think and problem solve. But in presence of distractions and other temptations, it doesn’t necessarily instill reliable obedience.
Please suggest methods, advice, books or courses. Thanks!
