Training a dog in agility?
I am absolutely clueless about training a dog in agility, but I think that me and my dog should at least give it a go before we decide that its too much of a challenge.
So, where should we start? he is a 2yr old male, neutered maltese x poodle mix, and he loves to run and jump around, he goes really hyper.

get him in classes. Sure he try it and training of any kind forms a stronger bond with you and your dog. The best agility dogs have a good amount of toy and prey drive and are eager to learn. any dog can give it a go though. agility is lots of fun!
try looking into training clubs in your area.. you will first need to get him invovled in obedience.. he will need to know some basic commands before moving on to agility.
You need to find an agility class. Visit the CleanRun website, where you can find a local agility club http://www.cleanrun.com
You will want to start with an Introduction to Agilty or sometimes called a Foundation class. It would also be an excellant idea for you to take at least one basic obedience class, since agility dogs are off-leash
do a google search of your agility training in your area. you should be able to find something that way. I recommend you use a professional to train your dog if you as clueless as you say you (about training that is, lol) Besides, the agility training center will have all the equipment. But, you can practice “sit and wait” at home with him, which is part of the run. (I have a Boxer in training right now) The “sit and wait” is where your dog must sit when you tell him stay while you walk away and he cannot move till you call him to your side.
Good Luck!
